So, we’re going to arm you against malware so that you can stay on track. Ready to pick up some sweet tips? Well, here we go!
Avoid click-bait.
Ah, click-bait. Advertisements on the internet are full of these sorts of monsters. Click-bait is a term for a catchy phrase or photo that wants you to click on it. Not all click-bait is going to give your machine a virus, but many of them do. So, if you see a link, photo, or advertisement that you don’t know the source of, don’t click on it. If you don’t trust the source of that download, then don’t download it. Plain and simple. Reputable sources can be identified by notoriety and several other factors. For example, if you’re accessing a government website, it should have a “.gov” at the end of its URL. If it doesn’t then you might want to consider leaving the website to protect your computer.
Install the proper virus software.
Make sure that you have a security system installed on your PC. Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast!, and other free software can help you determine when a website is leading you towards trouble. You should also download Malwarebytes and run regular scans on your machine to ensure safety.
